01

Choose the shade and estimate the amount

Consider your natural color, percentage of gray hair, length and density. Long, thick hair or a first full-head application usually needs more product than a root touch-up.

02

Keep the essentials within reach

  • The tools required by the instructions, disposable gloves and a timer.
  • An old front-opening top, towel or cape, plus protection for the work surface and floor.
  • Tissues, mirrors and non-metal sectioning tools.
03

Set aside uninterrupted time

Reading, sectioning, applying, timing and rinsing all need continuous attention. Avoid coloring just before leaving home or while you expect frequent interruptions.
